1 In a large mixing bowl, combine the buttermilk, egg, flour, and cornmeal. Mix
well.
2 Fold in the okra and finely chopped onion. Season with salt and pepper if
desired.
3 Heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
4 Using a spoon or 1/4 cup measuring cup, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the
hot oil.
5 Fry the fritters for about 2 minutes on one side until they are golden and
crispy.
6 Flip them over and fry the other side.
7 Once done, drain the fritters on paper towels.
8 Slather with butter and enjoy!
