Basic American Buttercream

A classic American buttercream made up of butter and icing sugar!

Instructions

1 Weigh out all of the needed ingredients. Make sure the butter is at room
temperature. The best way to achieve soft butter is to set it out at room
temperature the night before, however, it can be microwaved for 10-30 seconds if
it hasn't been set out.
2 Using the whisk attachment and the stand mixer, whip the butter for up to 10
minutes, until it is light in colour, fluffy, and smooth.
3 Switch to the paddle attachment and add the icing sugar into the bowl. Mix on
low speed until incorporated. Once everything is combined, mix on medium speed
until the buttercream is soft and fluffy.
4 Pour in the whipping cream and vanilla.
5 Mix the buttercream for up to 10 minutes on medium - low speed. To achieve extra
smooth buttercream, mix on the lowest speed for another 10 minutes - this helps
get rid of air bubbles and smooth everything out.
6 Store at room temperature for up to 24 hours, or in the fridge for 2 weeks. It
can also be frozen!
