Instructions

1 Prepare two 9" pie crusts or remove store bought pie dough from fridge/freezer.
2 Peel apples and slice thinly about ⅛" - ¼" thick. Be sure to remove core/seeds.
3 In a small bowl mix sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves and salt.
4 Heat a skillet to medium heat and add the apples, lemon juice and sugar mixture
and stir to combine. Cook for about 5 minutes until apples are tender but not
too soft, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool.
5 Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
6 Lay the first pie crust into a lightly buttered pie dish. Pour apples into the
dish. Either lay the entire second crust on top of the pie or cut dough into
long even strips 2" thick and weave the crust making a lattice top. Then, pinch
sides close.
7 Brush top of pie crust with egg wash and then sprinkle evenly with cinnamon
sugar mixture.
8 Place pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30-40 minutes until pie is bubbly
and crust is golden.
