a 12-cup muffin tin with cupcake liners.
2 In a mixing bowl, combine the unsalted butter and muscovado sugar, beating until
the mixture is fluffy and light. Gradually mix in the eggs and vanilla extract,
allowing them to blend in smoothly while adding a bit of flour to prevent
curdling.
3 Carefully sift in the self-raising flour and ground cinnamon, folding them into
the batter along with the maple syrup flavoring. Evenly distribute the batter
among the cupcake cases and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until a skewer inserted
comes out clean. Allow to cool for a short period before removing from the tin
and fully cooling on a wire rack.
4 For the buttercream, begin by beating the softened butter until smooth.
Gradually incorporate the icing sugar in halves, mixing well. Add the maple
