Saltine Toffee

🧂 Ingredients

1 Preheat the oven to 400℉.
2 Line a sheet tray with aluminum foil or parchment paper. Cover the sheet pan
with saltines, salt side up, single layer.
3 In a small sauce pan over low heat melt 2 sticks of butter and brown sugar.
Using a rubber spatula do your best to mix as both the brown sugar and butter
melt. Once melted let it come to a rolling boil for 2 minutes.
4 Note: If you want the toffee to become real hard snappy toffee, boil for 3-5
minutes until the temperature reaches 270-280- degrees.
5 Pour the brown sugar butter over the saltines and carefully spread it to apply
an even coating across all the crackers. Using an offset spatula comes in handy
for this step but a knife works as well.
6 Place the tray back in the oven and cook for 5 minutes. Remove and top with
chocolate chips, and place it back in the oven for 1 more minute to soften and
melt the chocolate. Spread the chocolate in an even layer and top with preferred
toppings.
7 Place the saltines in the fridge for 1 hour to harden. Once hard either cut with
a knife or break into desired pieces.
