Korean Potato and Spam Stew (Gamja Jjageuli)

A super simple and very cheap but delicious spicy Korean potato stew by famous
celebrity chef, Baek Jong Won!

Instructions

1 Prep the vegetables. Cut the potatoes into large matchbox sticks. Slice the
onions, chop the spicy peppers and chop the green onion.
2 In a medium sized pot, lay the potatoes down first, then top with onions and
peppers.
3 Take the spam and smash it. Baek Jong Won puts the spam in a bag and smashes it
with his palm. You could just use a spoon as well.
4 Lay the spam on top of the onions and peppers in the pot. Throw in the chopped
green onion.
5 Add in all the sauce ingredients into the pot.
6 Fill with water, just until all the ingredients are immersed.
7 Bring to a boil and simmer for 10 minutes or longer. The longer it cooks, the
more all the ingredient flavors will come together.
8 Enjoy with a bowl of white rice! I like to spoon a bit of the broth and toppings
on to the rice and have one big bite of rice, broth and spam.
